About:
Bachat, (savings in hindi) is designed to counter the excessive spending trend in gen-z by transforming the savings experience, through gamification. It turns saving into a quest where users fulfill daily small but engaging tasks to learn to build a habit in order to manage their money more mindfully.
In Bachat, you’re not alone in this journey, you hold your closest most trusted friends accountable. Together the next generation will be the most financially secure generation ever.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Gen-Z faces rising costs, digital overspending, and social pressure but lacks tools that make financial health engaging and sustainable. Current solutions feel complex and uninspiring, leaving young adults without clear ways to build lasting money habits.
SUMMARY
I designed Bachat to turn an isolating, difficult habit into a social, motivating experience. It begins with simple onboarding an avatar, savings goals, and a bank connection before guiding users with clear visual progress, monthly breakdowns, and goal-specific tabs.
What makes it unique is the collaborative layer, where friends
hold each other accountable through encouragement and
support.

RESEARCH DECK
Reflections
-
This project began with curiosity about my own behavior. By questioning why my roommate and I struggled to save money, I was able to uncover a relatable pain point for many Gen-Z users. Starting from personal context helped me empathize more deeply with the user journey.
-
From initial sketches to user testing, many ideas failed before the right solution emerged. Staying resilient, until you find the perfect solution.
-
Put usability first. I learned that testing earlier and more often creates clearer, more intuitive solutions. Moving forward, I’ll focus on usability more.
